studio family session | Ashley + family
Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a studio family session. I always love doing family sessions, but capturing a family shoot with two little ones is truly a special experience! As a photographer, it’s easy to get lost in the unpredictable and creative energy of these tiny beings. From the moment I walk into the studio, I’m hit with their infectious smiles and carefree energy, making the session full of life and warmth. They were so sweet, and their parents were such a joy to be around as well.
When I start setting up the shots for the session, I make sure to include elements that are meaningful to the family. Whether that’s their favorite teddy bear or their favorite colors, I love adding these special touches to make the photos even more personal. This family wanted some classic family shots, but they also wanted some in their matching sweats and sneakers! I thought it was the cutest thing when they all walked out matching! It made it that much more special and unique. I strive to make the session as much fun as possible for the kiddos, so I usually start off by simply playing a few games with them and giving them some free reign to explore the studio a bit. It helps the kids settle down and feel relaxed, and gives me time to get some pictures of Mom and Dad!
By the end of the session, I think we all were really happy with how the day went and the shots I managed to get. Being able to capture the little moments in between the bursts of laughter and chaos is truly beautiful. As I packed up all of my gear, I was left with the sweet energy of the family in the studio. It’s always a pleasure to witness these precious little families come together and I’m grateful for every single one I get to be a part of.
